Job vacancies in the water industry
It is a time of change and uncertainty in the water industry at the moment. The industry has been buffeted by the financial crisis as well as the 'usual' regulatory cycle dip in activity. The past year has been one of the most difficult since privatisation, with AMP4 finished and AMP5 starting slowly. It has meant that many of the major consultancies and contractors have had to lay off staff.
British Water's report gives details.
2011 is proving to be a much better year. Water companies are now into delivering the AMP5 investment of £22 billion. Most have now relet their framework contracts and new partners for AMP5 have been announced. The 'slack' is being taken up and new opportunities are emerging. Looking forward with £22 billion of investment over the next five years the water sector does offer exciting opportunities despite the economic turmoil elsewhere.
